Asai Berry

Asai berry grows in the Amazonian rain forest. That is somewhere in Brazil for those of you who were lousy in geometry. The fruit are small and have a very distinctive taste, something like a cross between chocolate and raspberries. The berries spoil pretty easily and quickly, making them difficult to transport. Consequently, people who want to try them must do so in powder, juice, frozen or supplement form.

If you haven’t heard much about the asai berry, you may be wondering what all of the hype is about. Well, this little fruit packs a huge punch. It contains a number of fatty acids, minerals, fiber, omega-3 and 9 fats, b-vitamins and antioxidants.

Acaia berry is probably easiest to purchase in the form of a supplement. It is also typically a lot cheaper this way. Buying it frozen can be costly, especially since the acai berry is just becoming popular and inexpensive distribution is not yet in place. However, even if you buy it in supplement form, be discriminating. Understand that you won’t find the same quality in each brand. Some companies will play up the fact that their product has acai berry but fail to tell you how much. It may only be trace amounts or of very low quality. This obviously won’t be what you are looking for because it will provide little benefit to you.

Instead, look for products that are very forth coming about the quality and amount of acai berry that is contained. If it is not spelled out clearly, one way to check is to look at the back of the bottle or on the sales page and see where acaia berry is listed in the ingredients. If it is listed somewhere in the first few ingredients, you may have a winner. If it is listed somewhere near the bottom of the list, move on and continue looking for a better brand.
